Animal Rights Activism and dissonance

↳

We treat our own human children as precious beings, what about baby animals? We exploit them. This is not acceptable in any way. But it is so normalized. This is concerning.

There is this mismatch between what we believe about life and the world and how we treat animals. We can’t and shouldn’t be invisible to this.

Each of us falls short, and we inadequately miss expectations. But still, we can’t lie to our own mind. It feels humbling to know that we might not be giving something that our heart comprehends our full efforts. But even a little effort goes a long way.

and it is not right to step over others to get ahead. None of us are perfect, no animal rights activist is perfect. But although good is less than perfect, it is still better than complete denial.

Animal rights activism isn’t about being right. Sometimes we know deeply that we believe in something that we can’t think of anything to say or do, because everything feels so high stakes.

But even the littlest imperfect sentence we speak sparks more than silence kills.

Imperfect effort is still worthwhile. Even if it feels impossible, even if we can’t imagine what it would ever lead to. At least you’re being authentic.
