Life isn’t about easy answers. Though when you put in the work, things do start changing. Things aren’t just going to be handed to you. We hear that over and over again from people who mean well for us. This doesn’t just apply to one’s daily affairs though.
Similarly for animal liberation, it’s not just going to go away. Just sitting down, thinking why is this happening, oh no, why does this keep happening, this is so bad, why don’t people realize, it’s not really going to turn into much efficient output. A lot of times when we care about something, we worry if we can fix it. This is something common for us animal rights enthusiasts. But, this isn’t actually productive. Sure it builds vigor and mental strength. Though only thinking about it may not actually help us put in real work to advocate for our cause. At some point we need to get up, do the imperfect, hard, yet very real work. We need to go further our educations, get that degree, volunteer repeatedly, and get established with our work.
Sitting idle worrying doesn’t mean you don’t care. But this world doesn’t necessarily reward that. It’s not about apathy. But when we get our hands into a broken machine, and tinker with it, and patiently figure out how to fix it, we repair the machine (read the instructions too for a machine) . But if we sit idle feeling bad that the machine broke at a crucial time and wish it were working fine, we’re not really doing anything that progresses us towards fixing the machine.
Thereby, this world doesn’t always give us easy answers. Once we get used to that, even our imperfect efforts, would turn into tangible concrete outputs. And then we don’t want to say I was dreaming of it, we can say I dreamed it and I did it. Isn’t that a brighter feeling after all?
Don’t get me wrong though, your time spent feeling deeply is a sign of your genuine heart!
