A little recent experience I had was when we all went on a walk to take a break during a class. The weather was getting warmer and a walk was going to be perfect for mental wellbeing.
But the walk was to a barn. It didn’t appeal to me.
We were having a conversation on our way back, someone asked why I stepped aside, “So you don’t love animals?”
I wondered, what does loving animals even mean anymore?
We really need to give animals the same consideration we would give a friend. Relationships aren’t meant to be merely transactional. Animals are not bait, they are individuals. That sheep at the barn has their own life in front of them. We need to meet that understanding with care.
